Stella Luna is the recipient of The International Journalist's Choice Award (Italy, 2017), has been rated Top 5 Desserts in Ontario and is listed on Urban Spoon as "Canada's Best 100 Places to Eat." More than just internationally award-winning gelato, Stella Luna is a family owned and operated European Café serving up breakfast, lunch, snacks, desserts and a selection of local craft beer and vintage Italian wine. Whether it's starting your day with buttermilk waffles, scones or a breakfast bagel, paired with a specialty coffee with Italian fare, a gourmet lunch with freshly prepared panini, eclectic salads, hearty soups and decadent desserts or, savouring La Dolce Vita with one of our Gelato Cocktails, Stella Luna provides intimate ambiance and  exceptional food! 

The Stella Luna Story

Decades before the book "Eat, Pray, Love" was popular; founding member Tammy Giuliani’s heart led her to explore the sights, sounds and flavours of Italy. She had only just arrived in Rome, when this hot blooded Roman, astride a smoky grey Ducati, cruised up beside her and asked her to the movies. Three days later, Alessandro proposed over a pizza and three coins in a fountain later they were living in Rome. The rest is history. In 2010 Tammy spent the winter in Bologna apprenticing with some of the finest Gelato Masters in the world. More than three decades later, with a Master Gelato Chef training under her belt, Tammy & Alessandro created Stella Luna Gelato Café with a mission to create a space where everyone belongs; where children can enjoy a freshly handcrafted gelato with their grandparents, alongside friends who are mingling over a glass of wine. Where couples can stare dreamily into each other's eyes in the company of folks who’ve been married for decades. They dreamt of creating the village "piazza", where everyone gathers to enjoy the simple pleasures of life! Theirs is love story infused with passion - for both their family, their roots and Stella Luna.

Erica Giuliani is a fourth generation Master Gelato Chef. Her family’s passion for finely handcrafted, artisanal gelato dates back to the early 1930's with her great-grandfather Eliseo, who was a Master Gelato Chef in the northern Italian city of Bergamo. Erica has competed internationally, winning Best Gelato in Canada in the Gelato World Tour in Chicago in 2017 and is the recipient of the International Journalist’s Choice Award from the Gelato World Finals in Rimini, Italy.

Jonah Trevor-Deutsch is an Engineer and a hospitality professional who loves to provide his guests with the best customer experience possible. He has worked all positions in the industry, starting as a barback in his teens and then working his way through university as a bartender and manager for some of the best venues in Ottawa.
